“We’re moving [Daemen] to fill these first flight seats as they become available,” Blue Origin told CNBC.
Fresh out of school, Oliver is a student majoring in physics and has a private pilot’s license. This turns out to be the son of the CEO of Somerset Capital Partners, Joes Daemen.
Scheduled to launch on July 20, 2021, the crew of the New Shepard rocket plane consists of Jeff Bezos, Mark Bezos, and aviation pioneer Wally Funk.
Although this was the first manned flight into space by Blue Origin, the New Shepard rocket has managed to fly more than a dozen times without incident.
With Oliver (18 years old) and Wally (82 years old), the flight will set a concurrent record for the youngest and oldest people to ever travel to space.
